About my career

Throughout my career, I have held various positions as a psychologist/therapist, supervisor, mentor, consultant, lecturer, trainer and facilitator. Since 2004, I also ran a private practice in Cape Town through which I provided assessment, treatment and therapeutic support to adults of all ages, students, couples, families, adolescents, children and groups with a wide range of clinical diagnoses, conditions and problems. In addition, I have provided expert consultation to organisations/companies/institutions. My clients have always come from diverse cultural, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Successfully completed all 3 levels of training in the Gentle Touch, a deep and subtle whole-person oriented approach to healing with Lorraine Astra Brown in Cape Town.2007 - Completed an introductory course in Clinical Hypnotherapy with Professor Neil Broekmann at Stellenbosch University, Western Cape, South Africa.

Personal meditation, mindfulness and contemplation practice.2005-2010 - Through my work with providing support and care to caregivers, counsellors and health care workers in the HIV/AIDS sector in South Africa, I have completed as well as taught courses in Mindfulness, Meditation, Nutrition, Aromatherapy, Chakra Healing and Capacitar (Pat Cane), a dynamic, whole-person approach to healing trauma that draws from various ancient and modern healing modalities, including Mindfulness, Meditation, Contemplation, Acupressure, EFT, Massage, Tai Chi and Chi Kung.

As a medical student at the University of Cape Town, I gained invaluable knowledge and skill in working with the human body and brain, through courses in: Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Histology, Microbiology, Pathology, Psychiatry, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Community Health, Internal Medicine and Patient Examination and Care.
